For those people who are more serious about dancing there is a well established competitive Dancesport scene.

To become a competitive dancer you must first undertake classes in the Studio to learn the technique and basic steps of the Ballroom and Latin American dances.

Competitive dancing requires a great deal of commitment, natural dance ability and finance, therefore only a few people choose to become competitive dancers.

Footwork Dancesport Studio has trained many couples who have represented Hamilton and the Waikato in major regional and national dance competitions. Many of these have become NZ National Dancesport Champions.
